The two certainly have had a tremendous start to 2014 as their single #Selfie rose to extreme popularity upon it’s release. The track was originally produced as a joke to poke fun at the concept of selfies as a way to promote their upcoming show at Miami’s Liv Nightclub. The hit took the public by an unexpected storm and received a ton of attention from listeners everywhere. The track was soon picked up by Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak records, which then led to a three-song contract with the label. It reached #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned over 726,000 iTunes downloads and over 100 million YouTube views. Listen to the track here and also the added Scarlett Johansson voice over:
But first….
The duo have since caught the attention of two labels, which just happened to be the world’s largest music publisher and one of the biggest label groups. The Chainsmokers have signed a publishing contract with Sony/ATV and a record deal with Republic Records, with each deal estimated to be around one million dollars. The duo will begin producing with Republic Records once their contract with Dim Mak Records is closed.
The Chainsmokers are continuing their success as they are currently almost half way through their Australia and Asia summer tour and are returning to North America just before Digital Dreams. Keep a close eye on this duo as their newest single is close to it’s release and so is the introduction of their brand new SiruisXM Radio Show.
